Privacy Policy

Short version: the lessons work without an account, most of what the site knows about you never leaves your own browser, and the parts that do are listed below.

Mom’s Basement University (“MBU”, “we”, “the site”) is an unofficial, free math resource for adults. It is not an accredited school. You can reach a human at echoesOTV@gmail.com.

By default, nothing about you is sent anywhere. Your progress is kept in your browser’s local storage on your own device:

• which lessons you have completed
• which quizzes you scored perfectly on
• your streak and activity dates
• your theme choice (light or dark) and whether the theme song is muted

You can wipe all of it at any time by clearing site data for this domain in your browser settings. Nothing on the site breaks when you do; you simply start from an empty progress record.

Signing in is optional. Lessons are never gated behind an account. If you choose to create one, we store, through our authentication and database provider Supabase:

• your email address
• an authentication identifier
• the same progress data described above, so it can follow you between devices

That is the entire purpose of an account. We do not sell it, rent it, or use it for marketing, and there is no newsletter to be added to.

The site shows no advertising. There is no ad network on this site, no advertising script in the pages, and no advertising or tracking cookies are set by us or on our behalf.

That means there is nothing here to opt out of. The site sets no cookies for advertising purposes at all, so no consent banner is needed for advertising, including for readers in the EEA, UK and Switzerland. If that ever changes, this page changes first and a working consent control comes with it.

The site does not run its own analytics product. Our host, Netlify, keeps standard server logs of requests, which include IP addresses, as part of operating the service.

This site is written for adults relearning mathematics. It is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, write to echoesOTV@gmail.com and we will delete it.

Two routes, depending on what you want gone:

1. Local progress only. Clear site data for this domain in your browser. Immediate, and needs no involvement from us.
2. Your account and synced progress. Email echoesOTV@gmail.com from the address you registered with and ask for deletion. We will remove the account and its progress rows.

If you are covered by the GDPR, the UK GDPR or the CCPA, you may also request a copy of what we hold, ask for corrections, or object to processing. Use the same address.

If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected, the change will be reflected on this page. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
